Residential Treatment

Mental Health Residential Treatment is provided for a total of 16 youth between the ages of 12 and 18 at Red Lion and Iron Hill Residential Treatment Centers (RTC) in New Castle County, DE. These freestanding units offer warm and comfortable home-like environments, where youth who have emotional and behavioral difficulties receive intensive treatment. Mental health workers staff the RTCs, and master’s level clinicians oversee the clinical programming. Youth in care receive individual and family therapy as well as behavioral support in a milieu setting. The level of staff intensity and clinical presence ensure a positive and therapeutically enhanced experience for the participants and their families. Both centers are program funded by the Delaware Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health.

Day Treatment

The Kacy Church Day Treatment Center, in New Castle, DE, is an alternative school program that can treat and educate up to 20 Delaware youth between the ages of 12 and 18, whether they live at home, in residential settings, or with treatment foster families. The program is staffed by mental health youth workers, master’s level clinicians, and psychologists; educational services are provided by certified special education teachers who are employed by the state of Delaware. This integrated team implements a multi-faceted approach to working with young people and families with life difficulties, emotional and behavioral problems and/or special needs. These comprehensive and intensive structured services are geared to meet the therapeutic, academic and related needs of young people on an individually assessed basis. Individual, family, group and milieu therapy is provided.

Foster Care/Treatment Foster Care/Individualized Residential Treatment

Various levels of care are provided for Delaware youth who are involved with the dependent and/or delinquent system and who require a more intensive treatment experience. Services are delivered by a designated treatment team that consists of specially trained foster parents, qualified treatment specialists, mentors, and master’s level clinicians.

Individualized Residential Treatment (IRT) is for youth who might be stepping down from a Residential Treatment Center into an individual setting. They are placed with foster parents who are intensively trained and supervised by NET to provide some of the direct service to the youth. Delaware’s Children’s Behavioral Heath Services is the sole provider of IRT in the state.

Independent Living Program: “Making My Way”

This independent living skills development program is designed to assist older teenagers and young adults effectively transition out of the Delaware foster care system into adulthood via the support and direction of a life-skills mentor.
